Who can audition for America’s Got Talent
In an effort to attract the widest swath of talent possible, AGT policies allow for almost anyone to audition at their open calls.
There are just a few stipulations:
- You must be an American citizen, permanent resident or “possess a current employment authorization card” at the time of auditioning
- You cannot be a current candidate for public office or run for a year after the conclusion of the season if chosen
- Contestants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times
AGT judge splits from husband
Sofía Vergara, 51, and Joe, 46, announced their separation in a statement last week.
They shared: “We have made the difficult decision to divorce.
“As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
A source added to the outlet: “Sofia and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
Heidi Klum ‘behaves like Queen Bee’
In an exclusive interview after watching a video of the AGT judges playing a card game, body language expert Judi James told The U.S. Sun: “The power dynamic is very lopsided between this group of TV stars, but Heidi Klum comes out on top by far.
“She wants her very own TV show and behaves like Queen Bee Heidi.
“In the card game video, she snares all the attention. Heidi announces herself like the star while using the cards splayed out in a fan,” she said.
She continued: “She moves the cards up and down and uses a body shimmy to gain maximum attention and impact.
“Heidi shouts with a self-point ‘look at me!’ gesture and a wiggle of the hand,” adding that: “This shows she does not want to be challenged by anyone.”
How much AGT judges make
AGT has featured a variety of notable judges throughout its history, including Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and more.
These judges bring their expertise, charisma, and personalities to the panel. But how much are they compensated for their contributions?
While specific details regarding individual salaries are not publicly disclosed, it is reported that AGT judges receive substantial compensation for their appearances.
According to various sources and industry reports, AGT judges can earn between $10million to $25million per season.
The substantial paycheck reflects the judges’ significance in the show’s success, as they are not only responsible for evaluating and critiquing the contestants but also for entertaining the viewers with their witty remarks and engaging personalities.
Nightbirde on America’s Got Talent
Jane Macrzewski performed under the stage name Nightbirde, and she competed on the 16th season of AGT, before dropping out of the finals due to her deteriorating health.
After battling cancer for five years, she passed away in February of 2022 when the disease spread to her lungs, spine and liver.
Show host Terry Crews shared a tribute to the star on Instagram:
“We are saddened to learn about @_nightbirde’s Passing. Our Condolences goes to her Closest Family & Friends in such of This difficult time. We Love you, Nightbirde,” he wrote.
Current contestants, the Mzansi Youth Choir performed one of her songs as their audition, earning them a golden buzzer.
$1million jackpot for AGT winner
Contestants for AGT are often spurred on by a mix of passion, drive for success – and a dream of winning the $1million prize.
But many people don’t realize that, like winners of the lottery, the top prize can get whittled way down after taxes or inflation.
Winners can choose to receive their prize in a single lump sum payment or in $25,000 installments over the next 40 years, according to Forbes.
The catch?
The immediate lump sum payment, after all fees and taxes, comes out to roughly $300,000 – not $1million.
